
Sri Vijaya Puram, July 8: The Department of Arts & Culture, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, organized a POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace) Sensitization and Capacity Building Programme today in the Conference Hall of the Disaster Management Department. The programme was inaugurated by the Smt. Priyanka Kumari, Director, Arts & Culture. In her inaugural remarks, she highlighted the significance of the POSH Act in ensuring safe, respectful, and inclusive workplaces. She emphasized that awareness, sensitivity, and collective responsibility are essential for preventing sexual harassment at the workplace and fostering a culture of dignity and equality.
The technical session was conducted by Ms. Rubina Siddiqui, Master Trainer, POSH, who made a comprehensive presentation on the provisions of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act. Through interactive discussions and practical examples, she encouraged participants to actively contribute towards creating a safe and gender-sensitive work environment.
The programme witnessed the participation of officers and staff from the Department of Arts & Culture, Tribal Welfare, AAJVS and Disaster Management. Participants actively interacted with the resource person and clarified various aspects related to the implementation of the POSH Act in government offices. The Assistant Director, Arts & Culture, Ms. Kanak Radha Chatterjee proposed the vote of thanks.
