Sri Vijaya Puram, July 05: CSL AN Ship Repair Unit (CANSRU), a wholly owned unit of Cochin Shipyard Limited, yesterday marked the beginning of Van Mahotsav Week 2026 with a vibrant tree-plantation drive in line with the Government of India’s “Ek Ped, Maa Ke Naam” campaign.
The event was held at the Marine Dockyard, Sri Vijaya Puram, and saw active participation from CANSRU officials, employees, and trainees. Under the aegis of the unit, dozens of saplings were planted across the dockyard premises, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to environmental sustainability and greener industrial spaces.
Mr. Sreekanth V, Unit Head and Mr. Mathew Varghese, Senior Manager (HR & IR) and other Sr. Officials were present. Mr. Sreekanth V delivered a brief address highlighting the importance of tree conservation and the role every employee can play in mitigating environmental hazards. He emphasized that small, consistent actions like planting and nurturing trees can significantly contribute to a cleaner, healthier ecosystem.
The plantation drive, conducted as part of Van Mahotsav Week 2026, also served as a practical extension of the “Ek Ped, Maa Ke Naam” initiative, encouraging staff to dedicate individual trees in memory of their mothers and as a symbol of gratitude and responsibility towards nature.
CANSRU, known for its excellence in ship repair and maintenance, continues to integrate environmental stewardship into its core operations. This initiative underscores the unit’s dedication not only to operational efficiency but also to sustainable development and community well-being in the Sri Vijaya Puram region.
