
Sri Vijaya Puram, June 25: In observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking under the theme of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, a series of awareness programmes, rallies, walkathons, training sessions and community outreach activities were conducted across the North & Middle Andaman District from 15 to 25th June, 2026.
These initiatives included awareness campaigns and educational programmes for villagers, youth and students, fitness and lifestyle training sessions, rallies through busy market areas and large-scale walkathons involving police personnel, officials from various departments, medical staff and members of the public. Civic meetings were also convened to encourage vigilance against drug trafficking and address local civic concerns.
A substantial number of participants from diverse sections of society took part in these programmes. They were sensitized about the harmful effects of drug abuse, its legal consequences and the importance of adopting a healthy and responsible lifestyle. The events highlighted community cooperation, police-public partnership and collective responsibility in combating the menace of drugs.
