Port Blair, June 17: A full size National Flag of India was found inside the Garbage bin of Bhatu Basti Junction on 09.06.2013. As per rule National Flags must be kept under safe custody and there is a set rule to dispose off, the National flag in case of damage.
But it seems that some people found throwing National Flag into the Garbage Bin more convenient, bringing dishonor to the National Flag. By looking at the size, it seems that the said National Flag belongs to some government department.
When Mr.V.S. Kamal Raj, Joint Secretary minority wing of Human Rights Organization got the news, he immediately reported the matter to Police Control Room following which PCR van reached to the spot. The National Flag of India was later handed over to staffs of PS Pahargaon for safe custody.
Meanwhile, Mr. C Saravanan, General Secretary of HRO has written a letter to the President of India demanding inquiry in this matter and punishment for those who are found guilty in this case.
