
Sri Vijaya Puram, June 17: In a moment of immense pride for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Geddam Vikas, a talented Muaythai athlete from the islands, has been selected to represent India at the prestigious Senior Muaythai World Championship 2026, scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 16th to 26th June 2026.
Vikas has consistently demonstrated exceptional performance at the national level, securing Gold Medals at the National Muaythai Championships in 2024, 2025, and 2026 while representing the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. His remarkable achievements, dedication, and hard work have earned him a coveted place in the Indian National Team.
The selection marks a historic achievement not only for Vikas but also for the sporting fraternity of the islands. His journey from representing the Andaman & Nicobar Islands to wearing the Indian colors on the world stage serves as an inspiration for aspiring athletes across the region.
Vikas has been training under the guidance of Coach N. Jagadeka Varma, Head Coach of Team Andaman & Nicobar and General Secretary of the Muaythai Association of Andaman & Nicobar. The coaching team and the association have expressed their pride and confidence in Vikas’s ability to perform at the highest international level.
The Muaythai Association of Andaman & Nicobar (MAAN) congratulated Vikas on his remarkable achievement and extended its best wishes for success at the World Championship. The association also acknowledged the continuous support of parents, coaches, well-wishers, and sports authorities who have contributed to the growth of Muaythai in the islands.
