Sri Vijaya Puram, June 17: The President of the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee, Mr. Rangalal Halder, has drawn the attention of the Secretary (Health), A&N Administration, towards the serious inconvenience being faced by patients and their attendants at the Nursing Home Ward of GB Pant Hospital due to the non-functioning of essential facilities such as Air Conditioners (ACs), ceiling fans, and geysers.
Mr. Halder stated that several complaints have been received from patients and their family members regarding the poor condition of these basic amenities. It has been observed that the ACs and ceiling fans installed in the ward are either not functioning properly or have completely stopped working. In the prevailing hot and humid weather conditions, the lack of proper cooling and ventilation is causing immense discomfort to patients, particularly senior citizens, children, and those recovering from illnesses.
Further, the non-functioning geysers have resulted in the unavailability of hot water, creating additional hardship for patients who require warm water for hygiene and medical purposes. Such deficiencies in essential facilities adversely affect the comfort, well-being, and recovery of patients admitted to the ward.
Expressing concern over the situation, Mr. Rangalal Halder urged the Secretary (Health), A&N Administration, to take immediate steps for the inspection, repair, or replacement of the defective ACs, fans, and geysers at the Nursing Home Ward of GB Pant Hospital.
