
Sri Vijaya Puram, June 05: The Andaman Nicobar Tour Operators Association (ANTOA) in collaboration with Hope Foundation successfully conducted a one-day workshop on Tourism & Hospitality Services at the Hope Foundation Centre, Bathubasti, Sri Vijaya Puram.
More than 60 students participated in the workshop and gained valuable insights into the tourism and hospitality sector. The session focused on practical knowledge, career opportunities, skill development, and the growing importance of tourism in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Mr. Simson, President of ANTOA, delivered a detailed presentation on the tourism industry, sharing practical experiences and highlighting the vast employment and entrepreneurial opportunities available for island youth. Students actively participated in the interactive session and raised several questions related to tourism careers, hospitality services, and future prospects. All queries were addressed by the ANTOA leadership team.
The workshop was attended by Mr. Soma Sundram, Vice President, Mr. R. Rajiv Kumar, General Secretary, and other ANTOA Executive Board Members, who shared their experiences and encouraged students to explore careers in the tourism sector.
The students and faculty members appreciated the informative session and expressed their happiness at receiving firsthand knowledge from industry professionals.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Thair Hussain, Centre Head of Hope Foundation, stated that Hope Foundation is committed to promoting skill development, capacity building, and job placement opportunities for students across India. He thanked ANTOA for its support in guiding young people towards meaningful career opportunities.
During his address, Mr. Simson emphasized the importance of the “Vocal for Local” initiative and encouraged island youth to become active participants in the tourism industry. He highlighted that tourism offers immense potential for self-employment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihood opportunities in the islands.
He further stated that the new generation of youth will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the tourism industry in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and urged students to equip themselves with the necessary skills and knowledge to take advantage of emerging opportunities in the sector.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks and an interactive discussion, leaving participants inspired and better informed about careers in tourism and hospitality.
