Sri Vijaya Puram, June 05: The Andaman & Nicobar Traffic Police has commenced issuance of CCTV-based traffic challans for traffic violations detected through surveillance cameras installed at various locations across the city. The initiative aims to enhance road safety, improve traffic discipline and ensure effective enforcement of traffic laws.
Road users are advised to strictly follow traffic rules and regulations while driving or riding on public roads. Violations such as riding without helmet, driving or travelling without wearing seat belt, using mobile phone while driving, overspeeding, dangerousor reckless driving, red-light jumping, stop-line violations and other traffic offences may result in the issuance of an electronic challan as per the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and Rules. Additionally, vehicles parked in an obstructive manner will also be monitored through CCTV cameras and necessary action will be taken against violators. Motorists are advised to park their vehicles responsibly and avoid causing inconvenience to other road users. The Andaman & Nicobar Traffic Police has issued more than 450 challans through surveillance cameras installed at various locations across the city in the last week.
Vehicle owners are advised to ensure that their vehicles are driven only by duly licensed persons and that all mandatory documents, including Driving Licence, Registration Certificate, Insurance Certificate and other prescribed documents, remain valid at all times. Parents, guardians and vehicle owners are cautioned not to permit minors or any unauthorised person to drive motor vehicles. In such cases, the parent, guardian or vehicle owner shall be held responsible and liable for action as per law.
The Traffic Police appeals to all road users to drive responsibly, obey traffic signs and road markings and cooperate in maintaining a safe and orderly traffic environment. Adherence to traffic rules not only helps avoid penalties but also plays a vital role in preventing road accidents and safeguarding human life. Collective compliance and responsible road behaviour are essential for ensuring the safety of all road users.
