
Sri Vijaya Puram, June 04: ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nimbudera, in collaboration with UTATMA, Department of Agriculture, A & N Administration, organized an Awareness Programme under the Khet Bachao Abhiyan 2026 at Harinagar, North & Middle Andaman.
The programme aimed to sensitize farmers on the importance of Soil Health Cards, balanced and judicious use of fertilizers, organic and natural farming practices, and various government schemes available for the welfare of the farming community.
During the programme, experts emphasized the importance of maintaining soil health through green manuring, integrated nutrient management, and other sustainable agricultural practices. Farmers were also apprised of the benefits of organic and natural farming in improving soil fertility, enhancing crop productivity, reducing input costs, and promoting environmental sustainability.
The participants actively interacted with the resource persons and discussed issues related to crop production, nutrient management, and government support programmes. The programme provided an effective platform for disseminating scientific agricultural knowledge and encouraging the adoption of sustainable farming practices in the district.
The programme was organized under the overall guidance of Dr. Y. Ramakrishna, Principal Scientist & Head (i/c), KVK Nimbudera, and Dr. Jai Sunder, Director (Acting), ICAR-CIARI, Sri Vijayapuram. A total of 21 farmers and farmwomen participated in the awareness programme.
