Sri Vijaya Puram, June 03: Under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) Scheme, the Directorate of Social Welfare, A&N Administration, organized an awareness programme at place of worship (Church) at RGT Road as part of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA).
The programme was conducted to create awareness among the public about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the serious threat it poses to individuals, families, and society. Participants were informed about the physical, mental, social, and economic consequences of substance abuse. Special emphasis was laid on protecting the youth from the menace of drugs, as young people are among the most vulnerable groups affected by substance abuse. The gathering was urged to remain vigilant and to actively support efforts aimed at preventing drug addiction in the community.
Directorate of Social Welfare continues to conduct awareness activities across the Islands to educate the public and promote a drug-free society under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
