
Sri Vijaya Puram May 24: The second day of the month long ‘Weekend Film Festival- ‘Chalchitra Andaman Nicobar Film Festival – 2026’, being organised by the Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism, A&N Administration, in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) in the Anthropological Auditorium, Sri Vijaya Puram saw a good number of film enthusiasts turning up as two movies were screened today. In the forenoon, ‘Salam Bombay’- a critically acclaimed, neo-realist drama directed, co-written, and produced by Mira Nair was screened while in the evening RRR (Rise Roar Revolt), a 2022 epic action-drama film directed by S. S. Rajamouli was screened.
As part of the Film Festival, a special Short Filmmaking Workshop was also organized today by the Directorate of IP&T, free of cost, for the interested candidates.
Ms. Samhita Veda Acharya, Filmmaker, as the resource person conducted the workshop on topics like Introduction to Guerrilla Filmmaking & Concept to Screen, Directing Basics & Cinematography Techniques and Visual Narrative Techniques & Camera Composition.
A similar workshop will be organised on May 29 and 30, 2026 as per the following schedule:

The ‘Weekend Film Festival’ aims at screenings of acclaimed films along with interactive sessions and workshops aimed at nurturing interest in cinema and filmmaking among local audiences and youth.
