
Sri Vijaya Puram, May 21:Students from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands have brought pride and recognition to the Islands through their outstanding performance in the prestigious “Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan” (VVM), a national-level science talent search examination organized by Vijnana Bharati in collaboration with the National Council of Science Museums at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar on 16th & 17th May, 2026.
More than 450 students from across the country participated in the national camp, including 10 selected students from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Through various scientific activities, assessments and evaluations conducted during the camp, the Island students displayed exceptional talent and scientific aptitude.
Master Ishayu Tawkar, a Class VII student of Navy Children School Minnie Bay, achieved the distinction of becoming a National Winner as Himalayan. He was awarded a certificate, memento and a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/-. In addition, he will receive the prestigious Bhaskara Fellowship carrying a scholarship of Rs. 2,000/- per month for one year. He will also get an opportunity to work under the guidance of eminent scientists of the country at various scientific institutions.
Further adding glory to the Islands, at the East Zonal level, Master Hardik Chakravarty, a Class VI student of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Lambaline, secured the first position, while Ms Bidisha Maiti, a Class IX student of Navy Children School Minnie Bay, secured the third position who were felicitated with a certificate & memento.
