
Sri Vijaya Puram, May 2026:The Returning Officer of AATO election, Mr. Abdul Siddique officially announced the results of the elections for the Managing Committee of the Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO) for the 2026–2028 tenure during a press conference held today, following the completion of the electoral process conducted on May 2, 2026.
The elections, held at Sun Sea Resort, saw active participation with a total of 51 nominations filed initially. After withdrawals, 46 candidates remained in the fray. The final polling took place on May 2, followed by counting and declaration of results between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM the same evening.
The election schedule began on April 1, 2026, with nomination submissions held between April 2 and 4. Scrutiny was completed on April 8, followed by withdrawal of nominations between April 9 and 11. The final list of candidates was published on April 15, leading up to polling on May 2.
Announcing the results, the Returning Officer confirmed that the electoral process was conducted in a fair and transparent manner, strictly adhering to all prescribed rules and procedures. He stated that the Managing Committee members were elected based on the decision of the general body of the AATO.
The newly elected Managing Committee for the 2026–2028 term includes:
President: Mr. Mohan Vinod
Vice Presidents: Mr. Hamza, Mr. S. Shiva, Mr. Navneet, and Mr. Javed Ali
General Secretary: Mr. Saikat Biswas
Treasurer: Mr. Dinesh Singh
Joint Secretaries: Mr. Mohammed Sajid, Mr. K. Satyamurthy, Mr. M. Purushottam, and Ms. Amrita Singh (Women’s Reserved Seat)
Organising Secretary: Mr. Mohammed Rafiq
The Returning Officer also acknowledged the support of election officials, including Assistant Returning Officer Mr. C.P. Mohammad Yousuf (retired Deputy Secretary from the Administration), along with polling and counting assistants who helped ensure smooth conduct of the election.
The newly elected team is expected to steer the Andaman Association of Tour Operators for the next two years, focusing on strengthening tourism activities in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
