Sri Vijaya Puram, Apr 02: An awareness programme on Unique Disability ID (UDID) Scheme was conducted on 02nd April 2026 at Lecture Hall–01, GB Pant Hospital by the Department of Social Welfare. The programme was organized with the objective of creating awareness among the general public regarding the benefits of UDID card, disability certification process, and the importance of timely registration.
The programme was graced by Dr. Avijit Roy, Deputy Director (Health) and Guest of Honour Dr. M. K. Saha, Medical Superintendent, also attended the programme and conveyed his best wishes for the successful conduct of the awareness initiative.
During the session, Nodal Officer (Disability), highlighted various schemes and benefits available to Persons with Disabilities under the UDID initiative. He emphasized the importance of awareness and encouraged beneficiaries to register under the UDID Scheme to avail government services.
The programme was further enriched by technical sessions conducted by resource persons. Dr. Rohit, Hospital Manager, facilitated coordination of the programme. Mrs. Saranyah R.K, Rehabilitation Officer, CRC Brookshabad, interacted with the participants and explained the types of disabilities, disability assessment, and certification process. Disability Welfare Officer, elaborated on various government schemes and benefits available for Persons with Disabilities. Junior Investigator, provided detailed information on the process of UDID generation and registration.
An interactive session was also held with Anganwadi Workers and Nursing students, wherein participants actively engaged and clarified their queries. The attendees were encouraged to register under the UDID Scheme and utilize the facilities available at GB Pant Hospital.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating the support and participation of all dignitaries, officials, and participants.
