Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 30: The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH&VS), Andaman & Nicobar Administration, successfully organised a comprehensive door-to-door follow-up infertility camp under the jurisdiction of Veterinary Dispensary, Manglutan on 29th March 2026.
Veterinary teams visited farmers’ doorsteps and examined a total of 18 animals. Out of these, 6 animals were confirmed pregnant through clinical examination, bringing joy to the respective livestock owners. The remaining 12 animals were provided necessary treatment along with detailed management advice to address infertility-related issues. The camp directly benefitted 13 farmers, who were sensitised on proper reproductive management, balanced nutrition, timely veterinary interventions, heat detection, and other scientific practices essential for improving fertility and overall productivity of their livestock.
This proactive doorstep initiative once again demonstrates the Department’s continued focus on delivering quality and accessible veterinary services directly to farmers, especially in rural and semi-rural areas. By addressing infertility problems at the farm level, the Department aims to reduce economic losses, enhance reproductive efficiency, and ultimately improve the income and livelihoods of livestock-dependent families across the islands.
The AH&VS Department remains committed to organising such regular follow-up camps, awareness programmes, and doorstep services to ensure healthy and productive livestock populations, thereby contributing significantly to the overall growth of the dairy sector and sustainable rural development in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
