
Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 29: The Mental Health and Well-Being Committee of JNRM organised an expert lecture titled “Beyond the Classroom: Transforming Lives Through Mentorship” for faculty members at the Lecture Gallery on Saturday. The guest speaker, Dr. Anindita Roy Chowdhury, Professor and Chief Mentor, GD Goenka University, delivered an insightful lecture on the transformative power of mentorship in higher education. She highlighted the evolving role of teachers as mentors and the importance of fostering a supportive academic environment.
Dr. Pearl Devdas, Principal, JNRM addressed the gathering and emphasised the need for empathetic engagement with students. She also outlined recent initiatives undertaken by the college to strengthen student well-being, like structured mental health support systems, regular yoga sessions in hostels and weekly visits by a psychiatric counsellor. The session concluded with an interactive discussion, followed by a vote of thanks by Mr. Jagadeesh G, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics.
The programme was attended by 110 faculty members and was coordinated by Dr. Binitendra Naath Mongal, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, JNRM.
