Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar. 11:In a sustained crackdown against bootlegging and the illegal sale of liquor, the South Andaman District Police has intensified enforcement actions across the district. As part of these efforts, the police teams conducted a series of raids in various areas under the jurisdiction of South Andaman District in last two weeks.
During the course of operations, the police teams successfully seized a total of 144.18 litres of IMFL along with 10 Kgs of Handia and apprehended 20 individuals for their involvement in the illegal sale and distribution of liquor. 20 FIRs have been registered in different Police Stations under South Andaman District against those individuals. All seized illicit Liquor was taken into custody on the spot after observing all codal and legal formalities and cases have been registered at the concerned police stations under Excise Regulation Act.
These enforcement actions are part of the South Andaman District Police’s ongoing commitment to curb the illegal trade of liquor, which not only violates the law but also poses significant social and law & order concerns within the community. The district police continue to maintain heightened vigilance through regular raids, surprise checks and intensified patrolling to deter and prevent such unlawful activities.
The South Andaman District Police also appeals to the general public to actively cooperate in this drive by sharing any credible information regarding the illegal sale, storage or transportation of liquor. The informant will be suitably rewarded and identity will be kept secret.
