
Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 08: In a proactive effort to preserve local marine ecosystems and promote sustainable tourism, Gram Panchayat Shivapuram organized a comprehensive cleanliness drive at the Panchawati Eco-Tourism Beach. The primary goal was to restore the pristine beauty of the coastline, manage plastic waste, and promote sustainable tourism practices among locals and visitors.
The drive was led by Mr. Venkateswar Rao, Pradhan and Mr. Mohammed Haneef, Panchayat Secretary of Gram Panchayat Shivapuram in the presence of Mr. Pradeep Kumar Singh, Block Development Officer, CD Block Rangat.The initiative saw active participation from:
Elected Ward Members of Shivapuram, Local youth volunteers, Sanitation workers (Safai Karamcharis), Environment enthusiasts from the local community, Officials of Forest Department and GP Office staffs.
The total of 30 participants participated and cleared the beach front and collected 64 bags of waste approximately 350 kg of waste was collected during the two-hour drive.
The collected waste was strictly segregated into biodegradable and non-biodegradable categories (specifically plastic bottles, glass, and fishing nets, etc).
Further, the team interacted with local vendors and tourists, educating them on the hazards of single-use plastics and the importance of using designated dustbins.
The drive successfully cleared a significant stretch of the eco-tourism zone. The collected non-biodegradable waste was transported to the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Cluster for further processing and recycling.
The Beach Cleaning Drive at Panchawati Eco-Tourism serves as a vital reminder that environmental preservation is a collective responsibility. Gram Panchayat Shivapuram remains dedicated to conducting these drives on a quarterly basis to maintain the ecological balance of our beautiful coastline.
