Port Blair, May 24: Like God, often Administration works in a mysterious way, which is beyond our understanding of common man. In yet another controversial decision the Administration has recently sent a senior officer to Mainland for training, knowing fully well that he is going to retire in 2014.
According to sources this time the beneficiary was a senior officer in Personnel Section, who has been sent to Mysore and New Delhi for training. As per records the said officer will retire in 2014 and sadly for getting benefits of his expertise the Administration will have to either extend his service or appoint him back as consultant for some more years.
As everyone knows for such trainings Government spends a lot of money, which is actually Tax Payers’ money but in government system, who cares about saving public money.
“The Administration should select only those employees for training in mainland who can serve these Islands for atleast 10 to 15 years. Most of the time young employees do not even get the intimation for any such openings for training in Mainland India,” said an angry staff of secretariat, who does not want his name to be quoted.
This is not the only such case in Administration there are dozens of dozens of such cases, where employees who have got chance for specialized training have either retired or left job after the training. Many employees who get specialized training do not even get chance to work on that particular field, hence the entire training goes waste.
“Most of the time, in e-governance meetings, departments send those staffs who have very less knowledge about computer or e-governance. When the government is spending money for training let the right personget the training,” said another employee of Administration.
However, when Andaman Sheekha contacted Mr. Sheo Pratap Singh, Secretary Personnel he justified the training for the particular senior officer saying “Training is a continuous process. Promotion happens according to the RR, like seniority and after the promotion it is compulsory to go out for training,” Mr. Singh added.
But the million dollar questions are that from such trainings, who will get benefit in Andamans? Who is accountable for such gross wastage of public money?
