Port Blair, May 14: The newly built modernised branch of A & N State Coop. Bank was inaugurated today at Dairyfarm by Mr. Anand Prakash, IAS, Chief Secretary, A & N Administration in presence of Mr. N K Sharma, IAS, Secretary (Coop.)-cum-RCS, Mr. P B Murugan, Chairperson, PBMC, Smt. Ratna Kannan, Chairperson, A & N Social Welfare Board, Smt. Abla Sammadar, Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, Mr. Saroop Lall, Ex-chairman, ANSCB, other senior officials of A & N Administration, SHGs, local residents and a large gathering of the area.
The 12th ATM service of the Bank was also inaugurated in the same function by Mr. Anand Prakash, IAS, Chief Secretary, A & N Administration.
Earlier, welcoming the dignitaries and the gathering, Mr. N K Sharma, IAS, Secretary (Coop.)-cum-RCS proposed the welcome speech. He has elaborated the various achievements of the Bank and most importantly the key role played by the Bank in the development of A & N Islands.
Mr. Ravinder Rao, Managing Director of the Bank while speaking on the occasion described that the Dairyfarm branch which was started in the year 1982 has mobilised deposit and has helped the people of these Islands with the introduction of various schemes. He further stressed that the CBS (Core Banking Solution) implementation is under process and assured that the Bank shall be able to render all modern banking facilities to its customers very shortly.
A brochure on financial inclusion, KCC and SHG prepared by NABARD in Nicobari language for the benefit of Nicobaris in the Island so as to bring them under the banking fold through A & N SCB and other bank has been released by the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration on the occasion. Similarly, an animation CD on financial inclusion is also released on the occasion.
Mr. Bhagat Singh, Chairman of the Bank while speaking on the occasion briefed about the various schemes of the Bank and urged all the people to come forward and avail banking services through micro-credit schemes. He further thanked all the dignitaries on the dais for making the inaugural function of the Bank a grand success and proposed vote of thanks to the dignitaries and other invitees.
