
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 24: The Andaman and Nicobar Islands have once again created history through the successful conduct of the ASMITA Pencak Silat League 2025–26, held from 22nd to 23rd November 2025. With an impressive participation of over 230 athletes, the league showcased remarkable talent and dedication, resulting in the achievement of more than 114 medals across various categories.
Pencak Silat, as a sport, is officially recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, along with multiple national and international governing bodies. This recognition adds further prestige to the league and strengthens its credibility in promoting the sport across the islands.
This year’s event stood out for its powerful message of women’s empowerment. The introduction of the Women’s League under ASMITA Pencak Silat received overwhelming support and was completed with immense pride and honour, reflecting the growing spirit, strength, and leadership of women in our society.
The league was organised by the Pencak Silat Association Andaman and Nicobar Islands, under the leadership of its esteemed State President, Mr. M.S. Murugan, Ex-Sub Inspector, A&N Police IRBn. The Opening Ceremony was graced by Mr. Manoj Kumar Meena, IPS, South Andaman District and on behalf of Mr. Manoj Kumar Meena IPS present Chief guest was Mr. Inspector Vishal Ram SHO, PS Aberdeen. The Closing Ceremony was honoured by the presence of MP Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, along with several distinguished guests whose presence made the occasion even more memorable.
