Sri Vijaya Puram, October 22:The Directorate of Social Welfare, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, has decided to streamline the process of pension disbursement to old-age, senior citizen, and disabled beneficiaries through banks.
In response to a letter from social worker Smt. V. D. Leju from Hope Town, the Directorate clarified that it remains deeply concerned about the welfare of senior citizens and differently-abled persons and is committed to ensuring the timely credit of pensions on the last working day of each month.
A recent meeting held between managers of various banks dealing with social security pensions resolved to fix two specific days in the first week of every month for disbursement. Banks have also been instructed to set up dedicated counters for pension beneficiaries to ensure smooth and efficient processing.
The Directorate further informed that the doorstep pension delivery system continues to be in operation for those unable to visit banks due to health or mobility constraints.
The initiative aims to bring greater convenience and transparency to the pension system and ensure that beneficiaries receive their entitlements without delay.
