Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 27:The Andaman Nicobar Islands Rural Livelihood Mission attached under the aegis of Directorate of Rural Development has extended gratitude to Andaman & Nicobar Command for permitting the members of the Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to participate in the recently organized Diwali Mela. This thoughtful gesture has provided a significant platform for rural women to showcase their handmade products directly to defence personnel and their families.
The inclusion of SHG members in such a prestigious event has fostered opportunities for economic empowerment and added a strong encouragement for the enterprising spirit of rural women. The fair enabled SHG artisans to display a rich variety of hand-crafted goods reflecting their skill, and dedication. The total sales recorded for on Oct. 18 & 19, amounts to Rs.51,415(approx).
By opening the doors for the SHG members, the Defence establishment has exemplified a commendable spirit of community partnership.
