Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 25:Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) are two flagship initiatives of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, aimed at transforming the healthcare landscape of the nation by providing secure, reliable, and enhanced healthcare services to all citizens.
The State Health Agency (SHA), A&N Islands, the implementing body for AB PM-JAY and ABDM in the Union Territory celebrated the 7th anniversary of AB PM-JAY on Sept. 23 and will be celebrating the 4th anniversary of ABDM on Sept. 27. As part of the anniversary celebration of AB PM-JAY, the Programme Management Unit (PMU), ABDM, A&N Islands, organized an awareness programme for students of the Department of Political Science, JNRM. The event included an orientation session on ABDM and an essay competition. An ABHA card generation drive was also conducted, during which, 61 new ABHA cards were created for participating students.
Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) was launched on 23rd September, 2018. AB PM-JAY aims to provide cashless treatment up to Rs. 5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary hospitalizations. As of now, 30,895 families (82,215 members) have been registered under the AB PM-JAY scheme in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and are eligible for cashless benefits. As on date, 2,535 beneficiaries from the UT have been referred to empanelled hospitals on the mainland under this scheme.
Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) was launched on 27th September, 2021 which envisions the creation of a national digital health ecosystem that ensures universal health coverage in an efficient, accessible, inclusive, and secure manner. A key component of ABDM is the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), which allows citizens to securely store and access their medical records and share them digitally with healthcare providers as needed. As on date, 4,59,437 ABHA IDs have been generated in the Union Territory.
These anniversaries mark not only the remarkable progress and achievements of these pioneering healthcare initiatives but also reaffirm the Government’s commitment to the vision of ‘Health for All’.
