Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 25: District Industries Centre, Department of Industries is the implementing agency of Prime Ministers Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) in Municipal areas, Shaheed and Swaraj Dweep in Andaman District and Nancowrie Group of Islands in Nicobar District. The Government of India has been implementing the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) since 2008 with the objective to generate employment opportunities in rural as well as urban areas through setting up of new self-employment ventures / projects / micro enterprises. Besides, the objective is also to bring together widely dispersed traditional artisans/rural and urban unemployed youth and give them self-employment opportunities to the extent possible, at their place.
The scheme offers bank-financed loans up to ₹50 lakhs for manufacturing and ₹25 lakhs for service/trading/business units with a substantial government subsidy. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, and for projects above ₹10 lakhs (manufacturing) or ₹5 lakhs (services/trading/business), a minimum educational qualification of 8th standard pass is required. The self-contribution and subsidy percentages under the PMEGP scheme are as follows:

The prospective entrepreneurs and the beneficiaries whose loan has already been sanctioned by the Banks can undergo EDP training. The duration of the training would be for at least 5 days for projects with project costs up to Rs.5 lakh and for projects with costs above Rs.5 lakh, the duration of EDP would be at least 10 days. No EDP training will be mandatory for projects up to Rs. 2 Lakh.
Aspiring entrepreneurs, especially youth, women, and individuals from marginalized communities are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and apply for financial assistance under the PMEGP scheme. Interested applicants may visit the implementing agencies DIC/KVIB along with necessary documents such as Aadhaar Card, passport size photo, Aadhaar linked phone numbers, e-mail ID, Local/Rural Certificate, PAN Card, OBC Certificate, Special category Certificate etc. and submit their online loan applications under PMEGP scheme at www.kviconline.gov.in.
The implementing agencies DIC/KVIB provides full support to applicants throughout the process—from preparation of the project report and submission of the online application to coordination with banks for loan sanction and subsidy disbursement.
