Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 20: The Department of AH&VS, A&N Administration, under the guidance of the Chief Secretary and the Secretary (AH&VS), organized a table egg distribution initiative on Aug. 15, during the 79th Independence Day celebrations. 2025, in Car Nicobar. This was initiated to address nutritional needs by providing high-protein food to school and Anganwadi children.
A total of 1125 table eggs were distributed, with 700 eggs provided to secondary and senior secondary school children (Classes 9 to 12) and 425 eggs distributed to Anganwadi children in Car Nicobar. The distribution was part of a broader effort to enhance child health and support community welfare through accessible nutrition.
A function was organized to mark the occasion, with the Deputy Commissioner (Nicobars) as the chief guest and the Secretary, Tribal Council as the guest of honour. Officers from the Education Department, Social Welfare Department, Fisheries, Agriculture, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Forest, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), and Block Development Officer (BDO) attended, demonstrating inter-departmental collaboration. Five Anganwadi children and 45 school children were present, adding to the event’s community engagement.
The initiative reflects the AH&VS Department’s commitment to improving nutritional outcomes in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The active participation of local children, community leaders, and departmental officers underscores the collective effort to prioritize child health. The Department plans to continue such initiatives to support rural communities, aligning with the A&N Administration’s vision of fostering sustainable development and enhancing public welfare through targeted nutritional programs.
