Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 01: In response to growing public distress over frequent and unannounced power cuts in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, especially in Sri Vijaya Puram, the State President of BJP, Mr. Anil Kumar Tiwari, has submitted a formal request to the Chief Secretary of A&N Administration, urging urgent intervention to restore uninterrupted power supply across the islands.
Mr. Tiwari highlighted that over the past several days, residents have experienced erratic electricity supply without any prior notice or schedule from the Electricity Department. He mentioned that numerous complaints and representations have been received from elected representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions — including Panchayat Samitis, Zilla Parishads, and the Municipal Council — reflecting widespread public agitation and dissatisfaction.
“Frequent power disruptions without any advance notice are causing immense inconvenience to the public and affecting daily life. The situation is creating a negative impression among the people, and immediate corrective action is needed on a war footing,” Mr. Tiwari stated.
He further emphasized the need for the Electricity Department to issue advance, area-wise power outage schedules, allowing citizens to plan accordingly and reduce hardship. The letter also requests the department to issue a public press release explaining the reasons for the outages and the expected timeline for resolution.
Mr. Tiwari appealed to the Administration to act with utmost urgency in the larger interest of public welfare and to restore public confidence through timely and transparent communication.
