Sri Vijaya Puram, July 25: Zilla Parishad Member, Mr. Alager Swamy, has extended his sincere gratitude to the Director of Education & Sports and the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Baratang, for their encouraging support towards the development of sports and education infrastructure in the Baratang region.
For years, Baratang has lacked a proper sports ground, despite our youth being highly talented and spirited in sports. Time and again, they have given tough competition to teams from Sri Vijaya Puram and other regions. However, due to lack of infrastructure and dedicated ground, their potential remained underutilized.
“I am truly grateful that an area of 4.0 hectares (Survey No. 1/3) at Nilambur Village has now been officially allotted to the Education Department. The Director has assured that necessary steps will be taken for the development of this sports ground, and we eagerly look forward to seeing this dream come true for Baratang’s youth,” said Mr. Alager Swamy.
Additionally, a significant step forward came when Mr. Vikram Singh, Director of Sports, expressed his willingness to introduce hockey in Baratang. The Director is exploring the possibility of bringing qualified coaches from across the islands to further nurture and promote the region’s sporting talent. This initiative is expected to provide a major boost to Baratang’s sports culture, opening up new opportunities for the children to excel.
Mr. Alager Swamy also expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Physical Education Teachers (PT Teachers) and sports instructors in Baratang’s schools for their relentless efforts in training and guiding the youth in sports, teamwork, fitness, and discipline.
“Together, we will continue working towards building a brighter and more prosperous future for our students and sportspersons,” added Mr. Swamy.
