Sri Vijaya Puram, July 24: Central government pensioners throughout the country will resort to forming “Human Chain” at District and State Headquarters on 25th July, 2025 demanding (i) immediate setting up of 8th Central Pay Commission and (ii) withdrawal of the Government of India’s decision to differentiate pensioners on the basis of the date of their retirement (Part IV of Chapter V of Finance Act, 2025). This is the first phase of a series of agitation the Forum of Civil Pensioners Associations, New Delhi, an umbrella organization of various Pensioners’ organizations throughout the country, proposes to organise on the above issues.
In Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the Government Pensioners Association, Andaman & Nicobar Islands will organise the “Human Chain” at Port Blair (near Tiranga Park, Aberdeen Bazar) on 25th July, 2025 at 3.30 p.m. The Human Chain will be organised from the entry gate of Police Station, Aberdeen utpo the Gandhi statue, Mohanpura.
A release from Government Pensioners Association, Andaman & Nicobar Islands today alleged that the Central Government through the Finance Act, 2025 has made amendment to the Pension Rules with retrospective effect from 1st June, 1972 enabling the government to differentiate the pensioners on the basis of their date of retirement in order to deny the central pay commission benefits to the retired persons. There has been massive protest all over the country against these decisions of the central government.
