Mayabunder, July 15: A tragic incident unfolded in Pokadera, Mayabunder yesterday, where two individuals lost their lives in separate drowning-related circumstances. Mr. Joseph Minj, a resident of Danapur, reportedly drowned in a pond, while Mr. Keshav Rao, a resident of Pokadera and a regular Mazdoor with the APWD, also passed away under unfortunate conditions.
Former Pramukh of Mayabunder, Mr. Abdul Siddique, expressed appreciation for the swift and coordinated efforts by the local police and medical staff. He acknowledged the timely completion of postmortem formalities for both deceased individuals, crediting Dr. Alice Bwa and Dr. Christina, Medical Officers at R.P. Hospital, Mayabunder, for their prompt action. He also lauded Sub-Inspector Mr. Dinesh Kumar Meena from Mayabunder Police Station for extending full cooperation in completing legal formalities.
According to Mr. Siddique, villagers and relatives of Mr. Keshav Rao had requested assistance, and thanks to the responsiveness of the hospital and police team, both postmortems were conducted without any delay—an outcome he termed as a first in such sensitive circumstances.
