Sri Vijaya Puram, July 11: Rakeshwar Lall, State President of Hindu Rashtra Shakti, has submitted a formal proposal to the Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, endorsing the visionary suggestions for Diglipur’s development recently articulated by Mr. Sekhar Rao (Instagram ID: sekhar_white_sand_andaman) in a public post.
With permission, the proposal reproduces Mr. Rao’s exact suggestions, which align with the mission for a Drug-Free Andaman:

Suggestion for Employment Opportunities and Development in Diglipur – A Step towards Drug-Free Andaman
• In Diglipur, we have the potential to create meaningful employment opportunities for the youth through eco-tourism and sustainable infrastructure development. A key suggestion is for the Administration and Forest Department to propose opening the forest route from the main forest gate to Saddle Peak by developing it into a proper motorable road. To support this, bridges must be built over the natural streams along the way so that tourists can reach the area easily without walking long distances.*
• Once this route is developed, Saddle Peak can become the highest officially accessible viewpoint in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, attracting eco-tourists and adventure seekers. This initiative will not only boost tourism but will also provide sustainable employment to local youth, steering them away from negative influences like drug abuse.
• This development will play a significant role in building a Drug-Free Andaman, as it provides a positive, income-generating alternative for the younger generation.
• Additionally, I appeal to the administration to focus on the Sindoor River, where fresh water currently drains into the sea. If check dams are constructed, it will help preserve fresh water, solve water scarcity issues, and also support hydroelectric projects in the region.
• Just like the Kalpong Dam, if we develop several small-scale dams, they can be integrated with the electricity grid, ensuring clean energy and generating further employment for the local population.

Based on Mr. Rao’s expert insights as a community stakeholder, the Hindu Rashtra Shakti and Islanders request immediate action on two fronts:
Saddle Peak Eco-Tourism Corridor:
a) Develop the forest route to Saddle Peak with motorable roads and stream bridges
b) Establish it as the islands’ highest official viewpoint to boost sustainable tourism
Sindoor River Water Management:
a) Construct check dams to prevent freshwater loss and enable hydroelectric projects
b) Replicate the Kalpong Dam model for integrated energy/water solutions
The Hindu Rashtra Shakti, Andaman and Nicobar Unit, fully supports these initiatives which will generate youth employment in tourism, clean energy, and infrastructure—directly combating drug abuse through dignified livelihoods.
The organization urges the Lieutenant Governor to kindly consider this citizen-driven proposal of Mr. Sekhar Rao in public interest.
