Port Blair, Apr 11: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC today laid the foundation stone of Lalta Singh Diggi at Lillipur, ward No 1 as Chief Guest.
In his speech, Mr. Sharma informed the gathering that when he had visited the area sometimes back, the residents of the area approached him to make the diggi clear of bushes so as to enable them to use the water of the diggi for washing household items and quenching thirst of their pet animals which they require urgently due to scarcity of water.
Mr. Sharma had requested the PBMC Chairman on this account and today he is pleased to see this materialized. Mr. Sharma has assured the residents that their demands of constructing retaining walls etc will not be hampered.
At the outset the Chairperson FT&A, PBMC Mr. K Ganeshan and Mr. Hema Rao, Councilor Ward No: 2 have praised the efforts of Kuldeep under whose efforts this work has been taken up as a welfare measure.
The function was also attended by the PBMC Chairperson Mr. P.B Murugan, Mr. J Nair, Councilor Ward No: 1, Mr. A Selvan, President City Congress, Mr. P Bhima Rao, General Secretary, City Congress, other dignitaries and the residents of the area.
