Sri Vijaya Puram, June 20: In a heartwarming initiative, the Rotary Club of Port Blair brought smiles to the faces of children from Seva Niketan and Pranav Kanya Ashram by organizing a special first-day, first-show screening of the newly released movie Sitare Zameen Par at Divyam Talkies, Prothrapur. The event, titled “Joy Movie Day with Little Hearts”, was organized with the aim of creating a memorable experience for underprivileged children.
Speaking to Andaman Sheekha team, Mr. Sagar Khurana, President of Rotary Club of Port Blair, shared that the club decided to screen this movie because of its strong message centered around children, love, learning, and acceptance. “We wanted the children to feel special, to know they are not alone. This movie is about kids, and what better way to celebrate them than by letting them be the first to watch it?” Mr. Sagar Khurana said. He added that all arrangements—from transportation to snacks—were made by the Rotarians to ensure that the children had a wholesome and joyful experience.
Joining hands with him was Mr. Diwakar Murthy, a Rotarian and owner of Divyam Talkies, who not only provided the venue but also supported the cause wholeheartedly. A film like Sitare Zameen Par has the power to inspire, and I hope it ignites big dreams in these little hearts,” said Mr. Diwakar. He emphasized that cinema can be a powerful tool to uplift and educate, especially when shared with those who don’t have easy access to such experiences.
The theatre was exclusively reserved for the children of the two orphanages, ensuring that the experience remained intimate and safe. From warm welcomes to guided seating and snacks, every detail was carefully managed by the Rotary team. The children’s radiant smiles and sparkling eyes as they entered the hall were testimony to the joy such a gesture can bring.
