
Sri Vijaya Puram, May 04: Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, undertook an official visit to Rangat today, to review the ongoing development activities and engage with local stakeholders as part of the Administration’s continued commitment to inclusive and responsive governance.
During the visit, the Chief Secretary convened a comprehensive meeting with members of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and Heads of Offices (HoOs), in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner (North & Middle Andaman), Secretary (PWD/Shipping), Secretary (IP&T/CA), and other senior officials. PRI members highlighted key developmental issues and local concerns, which the Chief Secretary patiently heard and assured necessary redressal through appropriate channels.
Following the interaction, the Chief Secretary visited Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Rangat, where he interacted with teachers and students participating in skill development courses being conducted during the summer vacation under Centrally Sponsored Schemes.
The Chief Secretary also inspected the Community Health Centre (CHC), Rangat, where he reviewed healthcare infrastructure and services. He held discussions with Medical Officers and para-medical staff, with particular focus on the management and disposal of biomedical waste. As part of his field assessment, he also visited Raman Bagicha Beach at Nimbutala to explore its potential for tourism development and to assess the scope for enhancing related infrastructure and amenities.
Later in the day, the Chief Secretary proceeded to Long Island, where he laid foundation for upcoming footpaths and inaugurated newly constructed footpaths developed by the Zilla Parishad. These pathways are expected to significantly enhance local infrastructure and ease of mobility for island residents.
The visit emphasized the Administration’s proactive approach towards addressing regional challenges, strengthening infrastructure, and ensuring that development reaches the remotest corners of the territory.
