Port Blair, Mar 30: The A & N administration and Coast Guard Regional Headquarters (A&N), as part of Coastal Security Initiative conducted a Mass Awareness Drive at Port Blair, under the chairmanship of Mr. Rupesh Kumar Thakur, IAS, Deputy Commissioner South Andaman, and attended by Commandant SSN Bajpai, Chief Staff officer (Ops), Coast Guard region (A&N), Mr. Vikas Ahlawat SDM, Asst Commissioner (R & DM), Mr. RK Rathee, ADM on 28 Mar 13. Approx 100 participants from various Govt. Organization i.e DSS, PMB, Police, Forest, Fisheries and Private organization such as Proprietors of Private Security Agencies, Hotels, Lodges, Restaurant, Tour operators, Members of Fishermen Association, President Auto Drivers Association and other staff members were sensitized.
This Awareness Drive and special briefings were conducted with an aim to spread awareness in run up to prepare for Coastal Security Exercise ‘Tatsuraksha” TSX -01/13 scheduled from 09-11 Apr 13. The main objective of this drive was to re-emphasize the responsibility of various Govt. organization and Private Organization towards the Coastal Security setup and their role as “Eyes and Ears” of the Security Agencies.
Similar programmes are also planned for Nicobar District, North & Middle Andaman District during Apr 13. A communiqué received from Headquarters Coast guard region (A&N).
