Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 13: Kanikas Homemade Cakes, in coordination with the Rotary Club of Port Blair, conducted a “Puja Thali Making Workshop” for amateur artists of Sri Vijaya Puram on 12th January 2025 at Kanikalayam, Dairy Farm.
In this hands-on workshop, participants were guided by Kanika, an artist, on how to design, decorate, and paint their own thali (plate) using a variety of decorative materials. Kanika provided expert guidance to help the participants explore traditional art forms and create beautiful, personalized thalis. The workshop offered an immersive experience where participants learned various techniques to paint their thalis, which are often used for festive celebrations, home decor, or gifting.
The participants were encouraged to personalize their thalis, and Kanika shared valuable tips and tricks for creating intricate and vibrant artwork. The workshop was open to both beginners and experienced artists, providing an opportunity to try something new or enhance artistic skills. These Puja Thalis are in great demand during the festive season.
Mrs. Karishma Singh, a participant, shared, “When we immerse in the work, we feel satisfied and happy.” Mr. Sagar Khurana, President of the Rotary Club of Port Blair, stated, “It actually keeps us away from internet addiction, helps the mind focus, and allows us to try multiple designs with endless opportunities.”
Mrs. Jilly Heaven highlighted the income-generating potential of such workshops, saying, “One can make custom-made thalis as per customer choice. It’s fun and a great time pass, especially for SHGs or girls and ladies with an inclination toward artistic skills.”
Miss. Harshitha, a makeup artist, remarked, “Screen time becomes less when we are engaged in these kinds of works, and our creativity enhances.” Vaneesha, a 10-year-old girl, said, “It is entertaining, and I felt happy.”
The workshop was attended by the Past President of Rotary Club of Port Blair, Dr. Dinesh, and members of the Rotary Club of Port Blair, along with Mrs. Vaishaki Khurana from the Inner Wheel Club, who were present to motivate and encourage the participants. The organizers have plans to conduct more such workshops in the future, especially during the summer vacations.
