Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 13: Mr.Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament, A & N Islands has greeted all Islanders on the auspicious festival of Pongal, Makar Sankranti and Magh Bihu.
Pongal/ Makar Sankranti, one of the most cherished harvest festivals of India is a celebration of gratitude towards nature for a bountiful harvest. Observed with great enthusiasm in the Islands, this festival marks the beginning of Uttarayan, the sun’s journey northwards. From preparing sweet Pongal/ Khichdi to decorating homes with kolams, the festival is a perfect blend of tradition, joy, and togetherness, the MP said in his message.
“May this festival of Harvest bring new hopes and fresh beginnings. May it also light up new aspirations and usher in as well as prosperity”, the MP said in his message.
