Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan. 10: The State Hub for Empowerment of Women (SHEW) under the Department of Social Welfare conducted a sensitization drive with the aim to promote girl child education under ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ in collaboration with Prayas.
In this regard, the Department organized an event at Pathergudda Community Hall, today, which was attended by around 90 participants including general public, Mukhya Sevikas, Anganwadi workers and community members.
Smti Marya Sheela, Incharge of Prayas and Shri Vijay Kumar, Advisor of Prayas highlighted key issues including importance of girl child education, gender equality and the impact of girl marriage and awareness on the Protection of the Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) . This session was conducted by Smti Roshni Mondal, Accounts Assistant (SHEW) under the guidance of Ms. Reeta Devi, Nodal Officer (Hub for Empowerment of Women).

These programs play a vital role in promoting gender equality and ensuring the safety and empowerment of women & girls across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
