Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 10: Acting on credible information, a joint operation by the Diglipur Police and the Agriculture Department led to the detection of illegally stored chemical and bio-fertilizers at the Godown at RK Gram Village, Diglipur.
On 09/01/2025, the input regarding the illegal storage, import and sale of fertilizers was received and promptly communicated to Mr. Ankesh Yadav, DANIPS (SDPO, Diglipur) and Mrs. Arti Singh, Assistant Director of Agriculture Department, Diglipur. On the directions of SDPO Diglipur, a special raiding team was constituted and a raid was conducted in the presence of independent witnesses and the owner of the Godown Mrs. Suparna Das and her husband Mr. Liton Das. During the raid 758 bags of fertilizers including DAP and phosphate were detected illegally imported, stored and intended for sale in gunny plastic sacks.
The seized fertilizers were handed over to the Empowered Officer, Mrs. Kamrun Nisa, Agriculture Assistant Diglipur (Authorized Officer/Inspector Fertilizer) for further action U/s 28 of the Fertilizer (Control) Order 1985.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that the alleged person is selling DAP fertilizers under the guise of bio-fertilizers which may also attract action under relevant GST provisions. The whole exercise took place under the command of Mr. Ankesh Yadav, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur and overall supervision of Ms. Shweta K. Sugathan, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N & M Andaman District.
The general public is requested to pass and share any credible information pertaining to any crime or illegal activities to their nearest Police Station or over phone No.100, 112 & 03192-273344. The identity of the informers will be kept secret and will also be suitably rewarded.
