Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec 24: As part of the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India initiative, the District Administration of South Andaman has successfully organized the Good Governance Week (Sushasan Saptah) campaign under the theme “Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore” from 19th December to 24th December 2024. The campaign aimed to bring governance closer to the people and included several events designed to enhance public access to government services and address grievances directly at the community level.
As part of this, grievance redressal camps were held at multiple locations, including the Community Hall in Mithakhari, Haddo, Wandoor, Harminder Bay village, and Hutbay in Little Andaman respectively, addressing public grievances and providing government services at the door step of the citizen.
The camp held at Mithakhari Community Hall under the chairmanship of Mr. Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, Assistant Commissioner, South Andaman. The event was attended by Pradhan GP Mithakhari, Up-Adhyaksh, other PRI’s and representative from various Department. It saw active participation from local residents of Mithakhari, Muslim Basti, Ograbraj, Namunaghar, and Dundas Point. Grievances were heard, and the concerned departments were directed to resolve them on priority. Various certificates, such as Income Certificates, Resident Certificates, and Senior Citizen Certificates, were issued on the spot.
Similarly, a Camp Court was held at Wandoor Community Hall under the chairmanship of Mr. Vasant Prasand Dabholkar, IAS (P). The camp was attended by Mr. Prakash Adhikari, ZPM, Mr. Bharat Kumar Sharma, Panchayat Samiti Member, and Mr. Adhir Das, Pradhan Wandoor GP, among other public representatives. The event saw the participation of Heads of various departments including Revenue, Police, APWD, Electricity, Agriculture, Forest, Education, Civil Supplies, and Health. Several e-service certificates, including Income, Local, OBC, No Dues, and Valuation Certificates, were issued.
A Camp Court was also held at Harminder Bay village & Panchayat, Samiti Bhavan, Hutbay, Little Andaman under the chairmanship of Ms. Anuja Trivedi, IAS (P), this camp was attended by local residents and representatives from several Gram Panchayats, including Hutbay, Netaji Nagar, Ramakrishna Pur, and Vivekananda Pur. Grievances were addressed, and certificates like ST Certificates, NOCs, and Form F were issued.
Another camp was organized at Sri Vijaya Puram, chaired by Mr. Thomas Vargese, Tehsildar, Sri Vijaya Puram, in the presence of local councilors Mr. Sahul Hameed and Mr. Someshwar Rao. Public representatives and citizens interacted with officials to discuss and resolve various issues. Symbolic e-governance certificates were issued to citizens during the event.
The week-long celebrations, conducted under the aegis of the Prime Minister’s vision for Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore (Administration Towards Villages), emphasized the core values of transparency, accountability, and responsive governance.
The District Administration, South Andaman, reaffirms its commitment in addressing public grievances and ensuring that the benefits of governance reach every corner of the District.
