Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 22: An Awareness and Education Programme on Drug Addiction and Substance Abuse was held at Mahatma Gandhi Government College, Mayabunder on 21-10-2024 alongwith 55 participants in attendance. The main objective of the programme was raising awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and promoting healthier, drug-free lifestyles, and featured several distinguished guests, resource persons, and speakers.
Dr. N. Laxmi, who warmly welcomed the Chief Guest Mr. Dr. B.Prabhuram, Principal of Mahatma Gandhi Govt College Mayabunder alongwith resource persons, guest lecturers, and all participants.
Mr. Sukhranjan Biswas, Deputy Director, Nehru Yuva Kendra delivered the welcome address, expressing gratitude to all the attendees and highlighting the importance of collective efforts to combat drug addiction.
Mr. S.Kannan SHO of Mayabunder Police Station delivered a PowerPoint presentation focusing on drug awareness, explaining the legal implications and health risks associated with drug abuse.
Next, Dr. N. Laxmi lecturer presented PPT on the topic of “Creative Thinking,” emphasizing how fostering creative thinking can serve as a tool to reduce drug abuse by channeling one’s energy and thoughts into positive activities.
Dr.B. Prabhuram, Principal of MGGC, delivered a presentation on stress management. He explained how reducing stress can play a crucial role in preventing drug addiction, stressing the importance of mental health and coping strategies.
The programme concluded with Mr. Sukhranjan Biswas thanking all the participants and speakers for being part of the government initiative. He reiterated the significance of such awareness campaigns in creating a drug-free society. Mrs. Laxmi then delivered the vote of thanks, bringing the programme to a close.
The event was a collaborative effort to empower the youth with knowledge and skills to resist drug abuse and encourage positive mental health practices.
