Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 03: The Chairman of Congress Campaign Committee Mr. TSG Bhasker has brought the attention of Chief Secretary, A&N Administration towards the recent damage of R.K Nallah Bailey Bridge connecting Jirgatang and Middle Straight, which has significantly disrupted transportation in the region.
In a letter addressed to the CS, Mr. Bhasker stated that the R.K Nallah bridge serves as a crucial link between South Andaman & North & Middle Andaman connecting residents, patients, tourists and local businesses. This ongoing issue is causing delays in accessing essential services, such as healthcare, and is leading to hardships for many patients who need to reach Port Blair for immediate treatment.
He criticized that the Andaman & Nicobar Administration always comes to action only after any issue escalates. Even, the deteriorating condition of the bridge was constantly raised by many in the past, but nobody took it seriously and now all essential transportation and tourism has come to a standstill.
He criticized the Administration asking “WHAT KIND OF VIJAY PURAM” WE ARE LIVING IN?
“Instead of changing names, if the Administration had focused on such issues then this day would have not come”, said Mr. Bhasker.
He added that the poor condition of NH-4 road has been already making our people suffer and now this damage of the existing bridge which has been a lifeline for several decades has added to their miseries.
“Further, the inability to transport essential commodities and LPG has also adversely affected the local people and businesses, causing delays and financial losses” mentioned Mr. Bhasker.
Hence, to mitigate this issue Mr. Bhasker requested the Chief Secretary to take urgent steps for repair of R.K Nallah Bridge and to enable Daily Boat and Helicopter Service between Port Blair-Rangat-Mayabunder-Diglipur until the bridge is repaired and operational again.
