Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 03: The residents of Beodnabad gathered at Praja Niwas (MP Office), Sri Vijaya Puram today in connection to their eviction by the administration.
According to information, the residents of Beodnabad met the Member of Parliament Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray and informed him that they were served with notices to vacate their land over which they have been residing for more than 50 years.
The land over which they have been residing was under a society on lease. Subsequently, the revenue department claimed its stake over the land and thus a dispute arose. The matter reached honorable court of justice and the verdict came in favour of the revenue department. However, the residents continued to reside over the land as the revenue department remained silent on the matter. The residents also built pakka houses thereon the land.
After few years the revenue department served them with notice to vacate the land as the government has some projects to implement on this said land. Now the residents of this region are totally baffled as how to deal with the situation.
Hence they met the MP and apprised him of the matter. The MP then heard their grievances. As a precautionary measure police had placed barricades and a large number of police personnel were deployed in front of the LG Niwas in order to maintain law and order situation.
The MP later along with the Pradhan of the Gram Panchayat Beodnabad, Mr. Paramasivam and the stakeholders headed for the office of the Chief Secretary.
They met the CS and apprised him of the matter. The CS reportedly heard them patiently and assured them that the administration would provide a package and parcel of land to the residents who would vacate the land.
However, the MP said that he would write letters to the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi and the Home Minister Shri Amit Shah apprising them of the plight of the residents of Beodnabad village owing to acquisition of land by the government and copy of the letter would be forwarded to the LG and CS.The stakeholders and the Pradhan on the other hand reportedly seemed to be happy on the assurance given by the Chief Secretary.
