Port Blair, Feb 15: Raising objection against the decision of Administration to impose water curtailment from the Month of February the President of BJP’s state unit, Mr. R Mohan has demanded to supply water atleast every alternate day.
In this regard Mohan has written a letter to the Lt Governor, the Chief Secretary, the Chief Engineer, APWD and the Secretary, PBMC and urged their urgent intervention.
“We had a very good monsoon here this season but then also the water level of Dhanikhari dam has depleted and the AN Administration will now supply water every third day knowing the fact that it is the most essential necessity for the people,” Mohan said in his letter.
The BJP’s State president in his letter has alleged that this situation has come as no remedial steps to enhance the capacity of the dam have been taken by the said Administration.
“The Kalapahar and other water storage/supply projects also remain standstill. During the month of February if this situation has to face by the public then it is out of imagination what the Administration will do during summer days,” he added.
Mohan urged the top officials to conduct a high level meeting on this issue to find out a solution for this problem.
