Port Blair, Aug 22: On the 22nd of August 2024, the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee, led by its President Mr. Rangalal Halder, held a Mass Dharna in Port Blair as part of the nationwide protest against the “ADANI MEGASCAM.” The demonstration took place in front of the Gandhi Statue, symbolizing the people’s call for truth and accountability.
The protest rally began from the Congress Office and culminated at Gandhi Statue, where several party leaders and members gathered to voice their strong disapproval of the Central Government’s alleged cover-up of the scam. Congress Leaders emphasized the need for transparency and called for immediate action to investigate the matter further.
The primary demand raised during the Dharna was the inclusion of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to thoroughly investigate the Adani Scam. Protestors argued that the SEBI had severely compromised its role in ensuring accountability, thereby allowed the scam to go unchecked. The protestors expressed their frustration with the current state of affairs, demanding that the government step up to fulfill its responsibilities for the people.
Through this protest, the Congress Party Leaders seek justice and a fair inquiry into what it deems one of the largest financial scandals in recent history.
Several Party Leaders comprising the Senior Leader Mrs. Shanta Laxman Singh, Former MP, A&N Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, ANTCC Spokesperson Mr. Tamil Selvan, Minority Chairman Mr. John Robert Babu, Mahila Coordinator South Zone Smt.
