Port Blair, Aug 07: A State level Hindi Workshop was organized today in the Conference Hall of Andaman Lakshadweep Harbour Works, Port Blair for the Officers/Employees of various Central Government Offices. The workshop was inaugurated by Shri D. Sathyamoorthy, Deputy Chief Engineer of Andaman Lakshadweep Harbour Works. Shri Nirmal Kumar Dubey, Deputy Director, Regional Implementation Office, Kolkata graced the occasion as guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guest, said, as per Official Language Rules, 1976 Andaman and Nicobar Islands comes under Region “A” and therefore, maximum official work is required to be done in Hindi in all the Offices of A&N Islands. He said that doing Government work in the Hindi has now become much easier than before and software has been developed by the Govt. of India and with the help of such software, Official works can easily be done in Hindi. He extended his best wishes to all the participants and said that they should take full advantage of this workshop and perform their maximum Official works in Hindi.
Speaking on the occasion, guest of honour said that it is mandatory for all Central Government Offices to implement the provisions of Official Language in their Office and strive to achieve the targets prescribed for Region ‘A’ in the Annual Programme issued by the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs.
Earlier, welcoming the gathering, Shri Rajendra Indwar, Deputy Secretary (Official Language) welcomed the gathering and said that the main objective of organizing this workshop is to sensitize the Officers and Employees about the Official Language Policy of the Government of India and about useful e-tools available online in performing official work in Hindi.
In the first session of this workshop, Shri Nirmal Kumar Dubey, Deputy Director gave detailed information about Official Language Policy of Govt. of India and discussed the problems in implementation of the Official Language Policy and its solutions. In the second session, Shri Rajendra Indwar, Deputy Secretary (Official Language) gave important information about preparation of Inspection questionnaire for Parliamentary Committee on Official Language.
In the third session, Shri Ajay Singh, Junior Translation Officer informed about the online e-tools ‘Anuvadini’ and ‘Kanthasth 2.0’ for Hindi typing and Translation works. A total of 70 employees from various Central Government Offices participated in this workshop.
