Diglipur, Jul 21: The Department of Agriculture at Diglipur organized a demonstration on ‘Preparation of Biopesticides formulation viz. Neemashtra, Jeevamrit and preparation of Vermicompost in vermibed’ in the field of Mr. R. Kannan, S/o Lt. P. Rangaswami at Milangram village under Gram Panchayat, Laxmipur on July 18. The demonstration was attended by 25 farmers of the area and Samiti Member, Mr. Ashim Mistry.
At the outset, Mrs. Arti Singh, Assistant Director (Agri), Diglipur welcomed the gathering and briefed about the importance of organic farming in view of the existing scenario of agriculture in the Zone. The ill effects of chemical fertilizer and chemical pesticides to human being and environment were explained to the participants. Importance of Neemashtra, Jeevamrit and Vermicompost for organic cultivation of crops were also explained in detail being an important aspect in sustainable agriculture technique.
Demonstration on method of preparation of Neemashtra, Jeevamrit and Vermicomposting through Vermibed was conducted by Mrs. Ima Sarkar, ATM in the presence of farmers. The participants were also briefed on the schemes implemented by the Department of Agriculture viz. Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, Mission for Integrated Development for Horticulture Crops (MIDH) and Plan Scheme.
Similar programmes were organized on mission mode from the month of June, 2024. As on date, 26 demonstration on ‘Preparation of Neemashtra and Jeevamrit and 3 demonstration of Vermicompost through Vermibed in Subashgram, Khudirampur, V.S. Pally, R.K.Gram, Madhupur , Hathilevel, Mohanpur, Nabagram, Sitanagar, Swarajgram, Kalipur, Durgapur, Rabindrapally, Milangram villages of Diglipur Block were conducted, benefitting 170 farmers.
