Port Blair, July 14: Directorate of Social Welfare remains dedicated to promoting a healthy and drug-free society through its innovative initiative, the Awareness cum Fitness Programme, commonly referred to as the Hasgulla Club, as part of the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” (Drug-Free India Campaign). The event, which took place on Saturday from 5:30 AM to 7:00 AM, was met with enthusiastic participation from the local community, reflecting a shared commitment to fostering a healthy and drug-free society.
The Hasgulla Club initiative uniquely combines physical fitness with drug awareness. Saturday on 13th July 2024 sessions are led by Mr. Ravinder Rao, a yoga teacher from “Art of Living.” These sessions offer comprehensive yoga classes, highlighting the benefits of yoga and meditation in combating drug addiction and promoting mental well-being.
Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare), emphasized the importance of the program in his address, urging parents and the general public to incorporate yoga and meditation into their children’s routines. He noted, “By adding yoga and meditation to children’s activities, we can help them stay away from harmful influences. Surround yourself with positive influences and avoid situations that may lead to drug use.”
The Directorate of Social Welfare invites all interested individuals to join the transformative Hasgulla Club program.
