Port Blair, July 02: The Scheme Hub for Empowerment of Women aims to facilitate inter-sectoral convergence of schemes and programs meant for women both at the central (NHEW), State/ UT level (SHEW) and district level (DHEW) with the mandate to create an environment in which women realize their full potential
An awareness programme on the theme “Bharat Nyay Sanhita” was recently conducted under the scheme Hub for Empowerment of Women (HEW). The event took place at the conference hall of Industries, Middle Point and was attended by Officers of Directorate of Social Welfare & Police Department, Staff of ICDS Project, Poshan Staff, HEW Staff, and key stakeholders.
The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, symbolizing the inauguration of the event. Following this, Smti. Zarina Bibi, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) from ICDS urban Project formally welcomed the dignitaries and participants, setting a positive tone for the proceedings. Following that, a welcome song by Anganwadi worker.
A notable segment of the programme was presented by Smti Rasheeda, Inspector from Police Department. This session provided valuable insight into the “Bharat Nyay Sanhita,” highlighting its significance and implications. The resource person elaborated on various aspects of the law, ensuring the attendees, which included front-line workers and members of the public, were well-informed.
Additionally, Shri. Ashok Kumar Biswas, Probation Officer (JH) provided further information on the topic, enhancing the participants’ understanding of the law’s practical applications. This session was particularly informative for front-line workers and general public.
Further emphasizing on women empowerment, Ms. Reeta Devi (Welfare Officer (Women) delivered a compelling address. The officer discussed the importance of women’s empowerment in society and explained common legal acts (Dowry, Domestic violence etc) that protect and promote the rights of women. She also emphasized the importance of spreading awareness about the law at the grassroots level and encouraged women to actively participate in this dissemination of information.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shri. R. Sheger District Mission Coordinator of HEW. This expression of gratitude recognized the efforts of all participants, organizers, and speakers who contributed to the success of the event.
