Port Blair, Feb 22: As of today Prem Nagar, Municipal Council Ward No. 4, Port Blair is one of the fastest developing areas in Port Blair and it is the new choice of many business men to open their units. But now-a-days Prem Nagar seems to be suffering from Pig Menace.
According to the sources Prem Nagar is witnessing Pig Rearing in Public Toilets, Roads and playgrounds from quite a long time and these people who for their own profit rear pigs in Public Toilets and playgrounds also let them open to roam on roads. Pigs roaming on roads are making that area accident prone and also dirty and filthy.
Further it was seen that the feed to the Pigs were also made using the water that is provide in the Public Toilets by PBMC and also it is served there in very dirty conditions making the place more dirty. People from the area, because of the Pig Rearing, are not able to use the Public Toilets and they are facing a lot of difficulties because of that.
The angry Public of Prem Nagar area met Mr. Rakesh Bali, Secretary, PBMC this afternoon to bring this menace in his sight and to demand for immediate shifting of the Pigs.
Mr. Bali immediately after listening to the grievances directed the Sanitary Officer and the Executive Engineer to shift all those Pigs to Brookshabad within Ten days. He also ordered them to construct an immediate shelter for those pigs at Brookshabad that could be without roofs and later on roof can also be added to it.
